a) Mandatory requirements,
b) Personal and organisation needs identified as part of the annual individual Professional Development Plans, and
c) Clinical need highlighted as a result of the needs of young people in individual units.
Fresh Start provides the following training to all staff:
Therapeutic Crisis Intervention: A model of care designed to safely manage young people in crisis and help them develop greater coping skills.
Keeping Safe: A nationally recognised Child Protection Training.
First Aid: A nationally recognised certification in occupational first aid.
Manual Handling: Training to provide staff with the knowledge and ability to transport or support a load safely and minimise the risk of injuries.
Health and Safety Training: This is provided from Induction and updated regularly to ensure a safe work environment for all staff and young people.
An experiential exercise to provide people with an increased skill and awareness of verbal, para-verbal and verbal communication skills.
To promote empowered, cohesive and effective team work.
To create a greater understanding of the causes, behaviours, the need to provide a safe management and treatment options.
Training to assist in the identification, understanding, management and treatment of young people with eating disorders.
To provide staff with the knowledge to do this safely and be able to report appropriately to medical staff when required.
